Exhibition: Raziye Kubat, “Muhabbet”, Conversation between friends

Room-Installation, Rakı-Table in memoriam of Katrin, Yusuf, who wasn’t called

Artist Raziye Kubat invited visitors to join her for a Rakı-Table at Studio 87. Rakı is a Turkish Anise Spirit. It is consumed with Meze (Antipasti). The conversations are called “Rakı muhabbeti” and symbolize friendship in Istanbul. The artist prepared the Meze herself and served it together with Rakı during the opening of her exhibition.

Raziye Kubat presented two very personal works that are creating narratives about displacement and migration. One is related to her Armenian neighbor Katrin. And one is a fictional story about Circassian exile questioning the Turkish Republic’s narratives about the history of minorities.

Exhibition by Raziye Kubat at Studio 87 – November 17 – 25
