Take Action and support the program
Jam Factory Art Center close to Lviv is a space for contemporary art located in the historical industrial site of a former alcohol producing factory.
Since the beginning of the war the Jam Factory serves as a center for medical and aid support and initiated a program to support local artists.
As Mahalla Festival we want to express our solidarity and call for action. Art is a necessary voice against war and a strong weapon in the fight for peace and freedom.
Visit their website to learn more about this important activities and the possibilities to take part. #Artistsinwar
Jam Factory Art Center Ukraine is part of the European Network “Magic Carpets“, which is facilitating exchange and residency programs for emerging artists and curators. The Mahalla Festival joined the network this year.
Palimpsest
The title, Palimpsest, originally denotes a piece of writing material on which the original writing has been erased to make room for later writing.
However, traces of the overwritten texts remain.
This paleographic phenomenon will inspire the artists of the Mahalla Festival 2022. They will be concerned with the use of resources in a
comprehensive way: in terms of ecological, economic, political, social and communal memory culture.
