Opening Ceremony for “Phoenix”, Latest Mural by Artlords in Istanbul

The Mural “Phoenix” by Afghan artist Kabir Mokamel (Artlords) was designed during a workshop of the Mahalla Festival in cooperation with our partner Kite Runner in an Online-workshop during summer and painted collectively in the Yuvakimyon Greek Girls School since 15th of November. On Saturday, 23.11.24, 5pm, we will place it on the wall of the school. Come by and join us.
Artlords is an artists Collective from Afghanistan doing Art in public space to foster social change, campaign for women- and human rights, fight corruption and involve people in the production process.
Memento
Memento as a term for artistic discourse shall serve to perceive absences and offer ways to inhale and exhale memory to avoid the acceptance of neglect. Mahalla Memento aims to create a new vision of tomorrow by asking artists to work on the everyday life of the overlooked.
The artists are free to use any artistic form or style. Innovative interpretations of the leitmotif are appreciated.
