The National Ioakeimeion Girls’ High School of Constantinople is a defunct Greek Orthodox secondary education institution for girls located in Fener quarter of Istanbul, Turkey.

In 1988, the high school was closed due to a lack of students to enrol.

The former Ioakimion Girls High School in Fener is the main venue of the Memento Festival 2024 in Istanbul.

Mahalla Memento invites for reflection on topics related to the tension between awareness of mortality, the wish for eternity, and the desire to live in peace and safety in a globalized world.

Performances, Installations and Concerts will be organized. All of them are interactive and open to participation for free.

Opening hours daily from 11 am until 6 pm except Mondays until November 29.

Theater Performance


The theatre performance  AY KASH / ای کاش / IF ONLY / Keşke will be hosted at the Tatavla Stage on October 26th.

This is a theatre event of the ‘Under the Starry Afghan Sky’ collective with the participation of 11 women from Afghanistan.

The performance in Istanbul will be realized in association with Cosmino Productions at the Tatavla Stage as part of the Mahalla Festival in Istanbul. 


Tatavla Stage

The Tatavla Stage was esablished 2014 as an independent theater in the Cihangir – Firuzağa districtct of Istanbul.

Tatavla means horse stable in Greek. A stable is a building in which livestock, especially horses, are kept. It most commonly means a building that is divided into separate stalls for individual animals and livestock. There are many different types of stables in use today


[ postane ]

Postane

Postane is an urban centre for impact-driven work and joint cultural production, based in Galata, Istanbul. In 2021, the former British Post Office building was repurposed as a public venue that serves as a launchpad for activists, promotes cultural heritage, and develops economic models and cultural programs that address social, environmental, and urban challenges.

In 2020, the building was bought from the Ormanlar family and reopened in 2021 after the restoration by Merve Bedir, Eren Onur, Çiğdem Furtuna, Öncül Kırlangıç, Büşra Tunç, and Jorela Karriqi. It continues to serve as Postane, a multi-purpose urban hub.

Since 2023 most of the Kite-Runner activities takes place at the former British Post Office in Galata, Istanbul.

During the festival in November, we will have screenings and panels with talks about future invention and additional professional qualifications for media activists.
