AY KASH / ای کاش / IF ONLY / Keşke

Saturday, October 26th at 8:30 pm.

You are invited to the theatre performance by the theatre collective Under the Starry Afghan Sky to the performance AY KASH this Saturday at 8:30 at the Tatavla Stage in Cihangir, Istanbul.

Eleven women who are living in Afghanistan are telling stories about their life.

Since the withdrawal of the Western forces in August 2021, the situation for women in Afghanistan has spiralled into despair. They do not even have rights to be violated. Women have lost the ability to learn, graduate, fall in love, travel alone, go for a walk in the park, ride a bicycle, or speak in public. ‘Ay Kash / ای کاش / If Only’ is a hybrid performance featuring live on-stage action by Rachel Karafistan of Cosmino Productions and filmed ‘interaction’ with eleven young women aged between 15 -23 who are in Afghanistan.

For more information and the venue, check out the Mahalla Website.

This performance is the opening event of the Mahalla Festival in cooperation with the Kite-Runner activities and Cosmino Productions at the Tatavla Stage in Istanbul.

The event is free of charge, you can reserve places at: 0090-530 113 52 30

Because of the theatre performance on Saturday, the storytelling lab is cancelled this week but will continue next week as usual.

The Istanbul-based association Diyalog in cooperation with the International Media Support (IMS) was starting in July 2022 the Kite Runner activities in Istanbul dedicated to media activists from Afghanistan.

All events are free of charge!

Kite Runner is being developed as a hub with support/counseling and workshop opportunities, social events and network building activities for Afghans with journalistic/media background mostly in Turkey. Afghans aspiring to become journalists or media workers can also attend selected activities, and some activities are open to all.
