Mahalla is a traveling Festival of Contemporary Art, Music, Theatre, Film and Literature. The Photographers Yasın Baran, Mehmet Kaçmaz and Che Seibert are representing the Festival on The Contemporary Istanbul Art Fair.
The Festival calls for new artistic practices and narratives on the topic’s migration and borders, communities and diversity, new city cultures, mobile citizenship and future demands.
The Contemporary Istanbul is operating virtually between 21.12.2020 – 06.01.2021. In Spring it is planned to present the works on the Fair’s location at the Istanbul Convention Center.

“The Wandering Tower” is the title of the Festival for 2020 and 2021. It is quoting a surrealist short story by Sergej Prokofiev from the times of vivid migration movements on the edge of the world wars. http://mahalla.inenart.eu
The Photographers Yasın Baran, Mehmet Kaçmaz and Che Seibert are commenting with their photographic works on the metaphor of the wandering tower. All three of them in a very different manner an in their unique artistic ways.

The Wandering Tower is the title of a surrealist short story by Sergej Prokofiev from the times of vivid migration movements on the edge of the world wars.
The Festival was quoting the title as a metaphorical frame for Mahalla 2020/2021. The tower of Babel is connected as a motive to the search for the origin of language and the access to the divine.
